November 10, 2025

Vaccines drive activity at the BH Airport Multimodal Logistics Hub.

After a month of mobilization, Brazil concludes the National Multi-Vaccination Campaign with 7 million doses administered to update the vaccination records of children and adolescents up to 15 years old. Even with the end of the mobilization, routine vaccination continues, reinforcing protection against vaccine-preventable diseases. But what is the logistics behind moving so many numbers in favor of life? To give you an idea, between January and September 2025, the variation in the volume of vaccines received by the BH Airport Cargo Terminal was over 35%, compared to the same period of the previous year, reinforcing the strategic role of the Multimodal Logistics Hub in the transportation of cargo for the Life Sciences sector.

As one of the main entry and exit points for essential products promoting health and scientific development in the country, BH Airport accounted for more than 80 tons of imported vaccines up to September, a figure 10 tons higher than the same period in 2024. For meningitis alone, more than 60 tons were imported, representing an increase of more than 9 tons transported from 2024 to 2025, considering the months of January to September of this year. The growth was 18.75% in the quantity of nationalized processes. It is important to remember that more than 4,000 cases of the disease were confirmed in Brazil during the first half of 2025.

In addition to meningitis, influenza and veterinary vaccines lead the movement of vaccines in the Life Sciences sector of the Cargo Terminal. Medicines, raw materials, in vitro diagnostic products, cosmetics, and medical equipment also pass through the Multimodal Logistics Hub. To guarantee the integrity of the goods, BH Airport has six refrigerated units capable of maintaining temperature ranges between -18°C and 22°C, with humidity control up to 70% in one of the ranges. All equipment undergoes a thermal qualification process, with sensors that guarantee the constant maintenance of the temperatures required for the ideal storage of cargo.

Commitment to Health

“Contributing to the efficient and safe logistics of these products is part of BH Airport's commitment to the health and lives of people,” says BH Airport's commercial manager, Geovane Medina, highlighting that, in 2025, the segment represented 32% of all processes released by BH Airport, being the most representative in revenue and added value of cargo. Up to September, the Cargo Terminal handled more than 13,700 tons in 28,634 logistics processes. “The strategy is to integrate different modes of transport, from air to sea and land. In other words, to offer complete solutions for importers and companies from the most diverse segments,” he emphasizes.

The BH Airport Multimodal Logistics Hub is the only bonded warehouse in Minas Gerais, with 24-hour inspection available. It has 12,000 m² of bonded area, 300 m² of hazardous cargo warehouse, 3,131 m² of cold storage chambers with customized setup and thermal qualification, in addition to 11 parking positions for cargo aircraft. “In 2024, BH Airport closed the year with a record value of cargo handled, exceeding R$ 11 billion. We have grown significantly in recent years, registering a 12% jump in the value of imported cargo from 2024 to 2025,” reveals the commercial manager of BH Airport.

Recognition at the Comex Tech Awards

The innovation secured recognition for BH Airport in the Pioneering Airports category of the 2025 Comex Tech Awards, the leading foreign trade event in the country. The national award highlights the unprecedented initiative of nationalizing maritime cargo at an airport, reinforcing the pioneering role of BH Airport's multimodal hub.

The operation enhances logistical integration in Minas Gerais, increasing the state's competitiveness on the international stage. The model for nationalizing imported products via maritime transport at the Minas Gerais terminal reduces transportation and storage costs, optimizes delivery times, decreases travel distances, accelerates import flows, and promotes regional economic development. "With this pioneering initiative, we create opportunities for companies and strengthen the state's position in the global logistics chain of foreign trade," concludes the commercial manager of BH Airport.

Christmas and New Year holidays will attract around 480 thousand passengers to BH Airport

End-of-year celebrations, school holidays and public holidays: December is traditionally one of the busiest months at BH Airport and, in 2024, demand promises to be even greater: 1.1 million people are expected to pass through the Minas Gerais international terminal throughout the month of December, 20% more than last year. There will be around 9,500 landings and takeoffs, which represents a 16% increase compared to 2023.

The Christmas and New Year holidays are the busiest periods. Between December 20 and January 2, around 480,000 passengers are expected to pass through BH Airport, which represents a 22% increase compared to the same period last year. The busiest day is Monday (12/23), when the terminal is expected to receive more than 38,000 passengers. To meet demand, BH Airport will have 560 extra flights. Among the most sought-after destinations, cities with beaches stand out, such as Cabo Frio, Porto Seguro, Salvador, Maceió, Rio de Janeiro and Aracaju.

The COO of BH Airport, Rodrigo Côrtes, recalls that the end of the year period is one of the most important for the tourism chain and emphasizes that BH Airport is preparing with reinforced service and security teams in order to meet the high demand. “The traditional Christmas and New Year celebrations and the school vacation period are the opportunity that many people wait for to take trips for rest, leisure, and family reunions, which brings a lot of activity to our terminal. Our team is committed to providing a peaceful and welcoming experience to passengers, reinforcing our commitment to safety and punctuality”, he states.

Another new feature in December at BH Airport is the start of operations on the BH – Sorriso route. Operated by Azul, the first flight takes place on 12/16, leaving Belo Horizonte at 11:30 pm. Located in the central region of Mato Grosso, 400 km from the capital Cuiabá, the municipality of Sorriso is among the ten largest cities in the state. Spotter Day captures the daily routine at BH Airport through the lenses of aviation enthusiasts.

The runway at BH Airport was the stage for another edition of Spotter Day, an annual event that brings together dozens of aviation enthusiasts dedicated to capturing and recording exclusive images of aircraft in operation. With the theme "Sunrise to Sunset," the gathering began before dawn and extended into the early evening. More than twelve hours of photography and interaction took place among approximately 60 participants, who found BH Airport a privileged setting for their lenses.

Three strategic points on the apron were prepared for the activity, with monitoring by Operations and Security teams, ensuring comfort and total safety for everyone. The reception included a welcome cocktail and the distribution of a personalized kit, specially designed to make the experience more practical and enjoyable, providing a complete day of photography and exploration.

The event was built in partnership with representatives of the spotter community, who contributed ideas and suggestions. The collaborative format reinforced the close relationship between BH Airport and enthusiasts, who help to promote and celebrate the world of aviation. “The airport listened to us and the entire spotter community. The locations were very privileged and well aligned with safety. It was sensational, it exceeded our expectations,” stated Alisson Augusto Vilela, 39, aircraft mechanic.

Registration took place in two stages. The first was aimed at the local spotter community of Minas Gerais, valuing the public that closely follows the terminal's operations. Then, BH Airport opened registrations on social media, allowing participation from interested parties in other regions of the country. The result was almost total participation, with over 90% confirmed attendance.

Among the participants were photographers from Curitiba, Fortaleza, Limeira, and Barbacena, who praised the event's structure and organization. “The event valued local spotters and promoted a positive connection with people from all over Brazil. The difference was that it took place from sunrise to sunset,” highlighted Ricardo de França Morgan, 43, journalist and aviation photographer.

Before the start of activities, all participants underwent a safety briefing and access inspection to the restricted area, in full compliance with civil aviation protocols. The event received praise for its organization and attention to detail, consolidating Spotter Day as one of the most anticipated events on the airport's calendar.

Satisfaction was also highlighted by Rafael Dias dos Santos, 41, administrator and aviation enthusiast. “It's a unique opportunity to closely follow the entire complex operation involved in this activity. From conception to execution, everything went flawlessly. BH Airport can be sure that we will be partners for all moments,” he said.

At the end of the meeting, BH Airport announced the Spotter Day 2025 photography contest, which will award the best images captured during the event. The ten most voted photos will be part of an exhibition in the terminal at the beginning of next year, increasing the visibility of the photographers' work and reinforcing the bond between the airport and the community that admires it.

According to Joelma Fraga, Communication and Marketing Manager at BH Airport, the event's success reflects the terminal's commitment to bringing people closer together and strengthening its relationship with the public that experiences aviation with enthusiasm. “We opened the airport to the perspective of those who see aviation with emotion. Spotter Day celebrates this genuine connection between BH Airport and those passionate about flying. Seeing the delight of each participant is a way to remember that aviation is made of people and stories,” she concludes.

Inhotim, Instituto Motiva, and BH Airport are hosting an exhibition about the Cerrado biome.
October 31, 2025

Inhotim, Instituto Motiva, and BH Airport are hosting an exhibition about the Cerrado biome.

The Inhotim Institute, in partnership with BH Airport and the Motiva Institute, inaugurates today, October 31st, the exhibition "Cerrado: This World Exists." The free exhibition occupies the arrivals area of BH Airport in Confins until November 30th, and aims to present to travelers and visitors the natural richness, ecological relevance, and conservation challenges of the Cerrado.

The Cerrado is the second largest biome in Brazil, covering about a quarter of the national territory and harboring more than 12,000 plant species, as well as hundreds of birds, mammals, fish, and insects. Recognized as a global biodiversity hotspot, it is also one of the most threatened environments on the planet. It is estimated that almost half of its original area has already been transformed by human activities.

The exhibition invites the public to discover the diversity of the Cerrado and understand its essential role in the country's environmental balance. The Cerrado biome is responsible for feeding eight of Brazil's twelve main hydrographic basins, including the São Francisco River, and concentrates a variety of pollinating species fundamental to the maintenance of native flora and agriculture.

Located in a transition zone between the Cerrado and the Atlantic Forest, Inhotim maintains permanent research and actions focused on the conservation of the territory. The Inhotim Botanical Garden brings together more than 1,300 species of vascular plants and maintains a seed bank with more than 500,000 samples, composed mainly of native species from these biomes. In addition to conservation, the institute works on ecological restoration projects, cultivation of endangered species, and environmental education for different audiences.

The partnership also includes an educational program in partnership with schools in the Belo Horizonte Metropolitan Region, which will receive visits from Inhotim representatives. During these activities, workshops on the biome will be held and seed bombs produced at the institute will be distributed, stimulating practical learning and student engagement in the preservation of the Cerrado.

“Opening the doors of BH Airport to present the Cerrado biome to all visitors in this exhibition, held in partnership with the Inhotim Institute and the Motiva Institute, reinforces our commitment to sustainable development and the preservation of biodiversity. We are a green airport,

environmentally responsible, and we act in defense of the ESG agenda, creating an ecosystem for the protection and conservation of the environment, with a special focus on the surrounding region, which is home to more than 300 hectares of native vegetation, distributed between the Atlantic Forest and Cerrado biomes, in addition to the Lagoa Santa Karst Environmental Protection Area, which is part of our airport site,” emphasizes the CEO of BH Airport, Daniel Miranda.
