Sustainability
BH Airport acts to strengthen itself as the most sustainable in the country. In 2022, the international terminal in Minas Gerais received, for the second consecutive year, the Green Airport Recognition during the Annual Assembly Conference & Exhibition ACI-LAC 2022, held in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The refurbishment of the Cold Water Plant was highlighted during the event and also received an honorable mention as a sustainable project in the areas of Energy Efficiency, Water Reuse and Maintenance Cost.
The airport also received the renewal of its carbon emissions reduction accreditation, at level 2, by the Airport Council International (ACI) program. This was the third time that the terminal received certification for meeting all the necessary requirements for reducing sources of greenhouse gas emissions, which increased from 2,480 tons in the first year of participation in the program, in 2017, to 584.6 tons in 2021.
At the end of 2022, BH Airport joined the UN Global Compact in Brazil to mobilize the business community to adopt and promote, in their business practices, Ten Principles universally accepted in the areas of human rights, labor, the environment and the fight against corruption. With the creation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Global Compact also assumed the mission of engaging the private sector in this agenda. At the airport, the strengthening of the ESG trajectory is a reality and adherence to the pact goes against the projects put into practice throughout the year. To complete, BH Airport was the first airport in the country to receive the BV ESG 360 certification from Bureau Veritas.
