Since 2014, the terminal has been managed by a concession, formed by the CCR Group, one of the largest infrastructure concession companies in Latin America, and by Zurich Airport, operator of Zurich Airport, the main air hub in Switzerland and considered one of the best airports in the world, in addition to Infraero, a state-owned company with more than 40 years of experience in managing airports in Brazil.

The history of Tancredo Neves International Airport begins in the 1970s. At the time, the mining capital relied solely on Pampulha Airport, built in 1933 and already operating with operational limitations. The demand for a world-class airport led the Ministry of Aeronautics, in partnership with the State Government, to initiate technical feasibility studies for the construction of the "Belo Horizonte Metropolitan Airport".
The conclusion of the studies indicated an area located in the municipalities of Lagoa Santa / Confins, as the most recommended to receive the new venture due to exceptional weather and topographic conditions.
1978 Governor Aureliano Chaves publishes Decree No. 19.273, which declares public areas necessary for the implementation of the "Belo Horizonte Metropolitan Airport".
1980 THE AIRPORT THAT MINERS DREAMED SO MUCH BECOMES REALITY. The works of Confins Airport begin by the Andrade Gutierrez-Mendes Júnior Consortium.

Azul, Trip and Webjet inaugurate flights to Belem, Porto Velho, Manaus, Rio Branco, Ribeirão Preto, Navegantes, and other destinations never operated before from Belo Horizonte, such as Fortaleza, Maceió and Porto Alegre.
2013
Aerolíneas Argentinas Group begins daily flight operation to Buenos Aires. The Federal Government promotes the auction for the concession of Tancredo Neves International Airport. The AeroBrasil consortium, consisting of the CCR group, Munich Airport and Zurich Airport, was the winner.

September 2014 - Tancredo Neves International Airport wins the Migration Control and Popular Vote "Tourist Support" categories of the Boa Viagem FIFA World Cup 2014 Prize, promoted by the Civil Aviation Secretariat (SAC) of the Presidency of the Republic.
April 7 - BH Airport, a concessionaire of Belo Horizonte International Airport, is born. The Airport is officially granted to private enterprise.
